Dear Clara,
On the morning of your birthday, we woke up early, as usual. You like getting up between 5am and 7am most days, and your birthday was no exception. We made breakfast and you proclaimed loudly that today was your birthday. What you said, specifically, was "Wacka birthday party!" and then proceeded to list the people you wanted to see and hug.
We made cupcakes for all your friends. You helped mix the batter and put the cupcake paper into the pan and together, we watched through the door of the oven while the cakes baked.
We hung up decorations for your party and tried to be quiet while everyone else slept. Your dad woke up after a while and came down to play. He got to work on making you a special volcano cake.
We played with some inflatable guitars, which we then gave to your friends at a big party in your honor. You made a crown with sticker-jewels and blew out a special candle for your birthday.
You are getting so big. Your ability to communicate has grown by leaps and bounds. I remember you as a baby, with your huge expressive eyes. You knew exactly how to communicate then, and I was so excited for the chatterbox you would grow up to be. You are now that chatterbox, laughing and saying "Mama! Dat FUNNY!" Or angry, saying "No! I don't like dat!"
